Licenses

In this section, admins can configure manual licenses that can extend their devices’ functionality through software-based licenses.

The platform currently supports two types of licenses:

• Open License – This type of license applies to a particular device model. Customers/system integrators can assign this license to any device of that model. The license can be unbounded from an assigned device and reapplied to another device as required
• Single Device – This type of license is assigned to a specific device, based on the device’s serial number. As soon as the device connects and registers with Workplace by Xyte or a White-label portal, it will automatically download the license and applies it. This is particularly useful when a partner is selling a device with a preordered license.

When a partner creates a new product for sale, they can specify if the generated licenses are "movable"

Non-movable license, will not allow an organization to remove the license from a device after it has been assigned

Creating a New License

On the top right-hand corner of the 'Licenses' tab, there is a green button 'Add Licenses'. Click this to start configuring the new digital product license.

In the pop-up dialogue:

• Select the specific device model that this digital product license will be available for use with
• Then select the type of license (open vs single)
• Specify the family type of this license
• How long this license is valid (in days from when the product is claimed against a device)
• The actual license key (any data string accepted by the device to enable the premium feature)
• Any notes (text field) to save with this license

Once all required details have been entered, click 'Add'

This digital product will now be available for purchase in the Workplace by Xyte/MSP portal.
