Making your devices available to Connect+ customers

Xyte Connect+ is a shared customer portal where end customers can discover, claim, and manage devices from any participating brand in one place. As a brand on Xyte, you control how your device models become visible to Connect+ customers and how those customers get onboarded.

This article explains the options, from fully open self-service to invite-only.

Before you start: publish your device models

Only published device models appear to Connect+ customers. Any model still in draft is invisible in the customer's "Add Devices" screen, regardless of your other settings. Publish every model you want customers to be able to claim.

Tip: If you want your brand to appear in the customer's vendor list even before you have published models, you can enable a "Coming Soon" placeholder from your portal settings.

How customers see your devices

A Connect+ customer will only see your brand and models in their "Add Devices" flow when one of the following is true:

  1. The customer is already connected to your brand — either you invited/connected them, or they connected to you during sign-up, or they previously claimed one of your devices.
  2. Self sign-up / connect is enabled for your brand — in which case any Connect+ customer can discover and connect to you without an invite.

If neither is true, your models stay hidden from customers who aren't connected to you yet.

The "Customer self sign-up / connect" setting

You'll find this under Settings → Customer Portal Features in your partner portal.

SettingWhat it means
OnAny Connect+ customer can find your brand, connect, and claim your devices without an invite. Lowest friction, open to everyone.
OffCustomers can't self-connect. They must be invited or connected by you first. More control, more per-customer setup.

When a customer claims one of your devices, the connection between that customer and your brand is created automatically — no manual approval step needed.

Onboarding options

Choose the model that fits how you want to bring customers onto Connect+.

Option 1 — Open self sign-up

Turn on Customer self sign-up / connect. Customers create their own Connect+ account, select your brand, and claim devices — entirely self-service. Best when you want a frictionless, public onboarding path.

Option 2 — Invite / connect specific customers

Leave self sign-up off and connect each customer individually. Only connected customers see your models. Best when you want to control exactly who can onboard.

Option 3 — Create Connect+ accounts directly (fully-integrated brands)

If your brand is fully integrated with Connect+, you can create a customer's Connect+ account directly from your partner portal. Each account you create is automatically linked to your brand and can immediately claim your devices — as well as devices from any other Connect+ brand — with no self sign-up setting required.

This gives you targeted, invite-like control while still giving your customers the full multi-brand Connect+ experience. Contact your Xyte representative to have your brand set up this way.

Seeing your customer accounts

Every customer that connects to your brand or claims one of your devices appears automatically in your Organizations list. There's nothing extra to configure — visibility starts the moment a customer connects or claims.

Note that you won't see Connect+ customers who haven't connected to you yet. This is by design: a customer becomes visible to your brand only once there's a relationship (a connection or a claimed device).

FAQ

Why don't my models show up for a customer?
Check that (1) the models are published, and (2) either the customer is connected to you or self sign-up / connect is enabled.

Can I create a Connect+ account from my partner portal?
The standard "Create Organization" button creates a customer account in your portal. Creating an account that lives in Connect+ and is pre-linked to your brand requires your brand to be fully integrated with Connect+ (Option 3). Contact Xyte to enable this.

Does turning self sign-up off remove existing customers?
No. It only affects whether new customers can self-connect. Customers already connected keep their access and their devices.
